Panos needs our help in getting his message out to the community, and every little bit that you as his supporters do can make a difference!
Here's a few pointers:
-Be alert everywhere you go. Always look for people who you can talk to or help out as an platform and opportunity to have a window of time to talk to them about Panos. Remember to SMILE always and speak in a pleasant tone to everyone you meet. If you bring in the garbage and you see your neighbor, if you're sitting in a waiting room lobby, waiting in a line, use that opportunity to strike up a conversation if you think you can get a word in. A sample conversation might something like this:
"Wow, this post office is really busy today, isn't it?"
"It sure is, and I hope I can get out of here soon, I don't like waiting around all day."
"I know how you feel. What do you do?"
"Oh, I work at a consulting firm."
"Really? That sounds very exciting, you must be very active. I'm pretty active myself, I'm helping out someone that's running for mayor."
"Wow, that sounds like a lot of work."
"Well, the guy who I'm supporting is a wonderful person. In fact, I happen to have one of his cards. Did you get one of these yet?"
Notice the use of the phrase, "Did you get one of these yet" - it's far superior to "Would you like one of these?" because it reduces the opportunity for rejection and creates a psychological primer which makes the other person think that you have something they need. Pass them the card and just SMILE.
-Lead by example. While in the community, you are the face of Panos. How we act and speak reflects either positively or negatively on Panos. Get in the habit of making yourself a person that is seeker friendly ... meaning, people will talk to you just because you look like someone they want to talk to. If you leave a good impression on someone, end the conversation by telling them about Panos, and tell them to support him.
-Talk to your family, friends and coworkers about Panos. Tell them that you're supporting him, and that you plan to vote for him. If you've done your job by being a trustworthy, dependable, and reliable person in their life, your opinion will hold a lot of weight and be a decisive force in influencing them.
-Carry Panos cards with you EVERYWHERE and leave them EVERYWHERE you go ... restaurant tables, phone booths, bus seats, bathrooms, etc.
Remember, together, we CAN spread the message about what a wonderful guy Panos is and how Honolulu needs him to be our next mayor!
